Catalina Swinburn (Santiago in 1979)
Catalina's work is located between installation, performance, photography and sculpture, among other disciplines, through which she articulates a coherent and significant script of previous and present creations that have as their thread "memory", in a context that goes beyond the historical, social or political and with a strong emphasis on spirituality, nostalgia, tradition, aesthetics and globalization.
Catalina's work is about to operate on the moving border established between the cult and the artistic practice, through the use of the rite (performance) and the object disposition. In the rite, actions, material and gestural references are emptied of their prescriptive load to be transferred to the field of criticism of the art system itself. Reflection on the image is a way to deal elusively with the transformation of products of material consumption into products of spiritual consumption.

El trabajo de Catalina, se ubica entre la instalación, performance, fotografía y escultura, entre otras disciplinas, a través de las cuales articula un guión coherente y significativo de creaciones anteriores y presentes que tienen como hilo conductor “la memoria”, en un contexto que va más allá de lo histórico, social o político y con un fuerte énfasis en la espiritualidad, nostalgia, tradición, estética y globalización.
La obra de Catalina, se dispone a operar en la movediza frontera que se establece entre el culto y la práctica artística, mediante el recurso del rito (performance) y a la disposición objetual. En el rito, las acciones, las referencias materiales y gestuales son vaciadas de su carga prescriptiva para ser trasladadas al terreno de la crítica del propio sistema de arte. La reflexión sobre la imagen, es una manera de abordar elusivamente la transformación de los productos de consumo material en productos de consumo espiritual.
